Over the past few weeks, I’ve talked about how to get started quickly and easily with your business writing. This week in Part 4, my focus is on Writing the First Paragraph.
- First, review your blueprint! (see Part 1).
- Just start writing. Remember, write only your first 3-5 lines.
- Now it’s time to check a few things:
- Is it complete?
Does it have the who-what-when-where-why-how? - Is it concise?
Tighten it up, but be sure to retain the w-w-w-w-w-h. - Does it pass the Five-Year Test?
Five years from now, would someone who was not involved know what you were talking about?
- Is it complete?
- Make whatever changes or corrections are necessary.
- Ask yourself what comes next. Are you prepared?I hope that you’ve found the Strategic Business Writing Blueprint to be helpful!
